AURORA, ONTARIO, Canada, June 11, 2009 – Magna International is pleased to announce that two vehicles which contain important content from Magna’s operating units – the Ford Flex and Audi A4 – have been recognized with awards at the recent Ward’s Auto Interiors Show for their interiors.
The 2009 Ford Flex was named “Interior of the Year” in the premium-priced truck segment. According to Ward’s, the judges were impressed with the Flex’s ample space in the third row – “Best third-row seat ever,” said one Ward’s editor – as well as the power second-row seats that allow easier access. Magna Seating manufactures the seats and supplies Ford from its Mississauga Seating Systems facility in Mississauga, Ontario.
“Congratulations to Ford and the Flex vehicle team for their achievement in receiving the Ward’s Interior of the Year award,” said Magna Seating President Joe Pittel. “We are very pleased to play a role in this program and to have an opportunity to assist Ford in establishing a new benchmark for three rows of seats in the full-size cross/utility segment.”
Also selected was the 2009 Audi A4, which won “Best Redesign,” a special achievement award from Ward’s editors for taking what was already considered a benchmark interior and making it even better. According to the judges’ report, “Superb design and much-improved ergonomics create a first impression of technical sophistication and functionality that also is warm and welcoming.” Magna Exteriors and Interiors supplies the A4 Cabriolet with instrument panel assemblies and inner door panels and the A4 with carpet from multiple operations within Europe.
“Audi and the A4 team did an outstanding job improving on an already very high-quality interior,” said Tom Skudutis, COO, Magna International Global Exterior and Interior Systems. “We are very proud of the contributions we were able to make on this program and look forward to working on future programs with Audi as they continue to differentiate their product in the marketplace.”
