At the awards ceremony, Bo Andersson, then GM’s group vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, said, “GM is proud to honor our best suppliers with the Supplier of the Year award, an award that we believe is the most meaningful honor in the supplier industry. During these difficult economic times, it’s more important than ever to recognize performance in our supply base. These suppliers are the best of the best and we want to honor them for their tremendous performance.”
“General Motors is a valued customer and we are honored for the third year in a row to receive the recognition this award represents,” said Horst Prelog, president of Cosma International. “The dedication and collective focus of the Cosma team continues to strengthen the partnerships we have with our global customers.”
“In a globally competitive environment, it has become our responsibility as a supplier to continually improve the value we provide our customers,” said Decoma International President Bob Brownlee. “This award reflects recognition of our success in fulfilling this responsibility.”
The GM Supplier of the Year award began as a global program in 1992. Winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. This year, General Motors honored 99 suppliers for their outstanding performance throughout 2008.
