Magna Accelerates Operational AI Using a Broad Ecosystem, including NVIDIA Omniverse and Cosmos

Magna is a leader in deploying industrial automation—using robotics and AI across our global manufacturing footprint to drive efficiency, safety and innovation. From robotic welding arms to autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and advanced vision systems, our commitment to operational excellence has always been powered by technology.

Today, that journey continues with a new generation of AI-driven systems—powered by a diverse ecosystem of technologies, including NVIDIA Cosmos—that are helping us improve how we build, move and deliver—across both manufacturing and mobility.

AI That Builds the Future

At Magna, we see AI as a powerful tool that supports and enhances our operations. From the factory floor to the systems that support mobility, we’re embedding intelligence into every layer of production. This vision is central to our Factory of the Future strategy, where AI, robotics and data converge to create smarter, more agile manufacturing systems.

Across our operations, Magna is integrating AI into:

  • AMRs for material handling and logistics
  • Computer vision systems for quality inspection and pick-and-place automation
  • Digital twins and simulation to optimize factory layouts and workflows
  • Predictive maintenance powered by sensor data and machine learning

And while these innovations are transforming how we build, they’re also shaping how we move—bringing AI from the factory floor into the real world.

From Factory Floor to City Streets: AI in Motion

Magna’s City Delivery platform—our purpose-built, low-cost autonomous delivery vehicle—has been on the road since 2022. It’s a showcase of how we integrate vehicle systems, intelligent control and scalable manufacturing. We’re now exploring how reasoning vision-language models (VLMs), like NVIDIA Cosmos Reason, can enhance this platform’s ability to adapt to new cities and complex environments.

Cosmos Reason is an open, customizable, commercial-ready 7B-parameter reasoning VLM designed to help machines understand and reason about the physical world—using spatial awareness, physics understanding and common sense to make better decisions in real time. Combined with NVIDIA Omniverse simulation APIs and libraries, it’s helping us reduce development time and cost while expanding the reach of intelligent delivery systems.

A Platform Approach to Physical AI

Our work with NVIDIA Omniverse and Cosmos reflects just one dimension of Magna’s larger ecosystem approach to physical AI. Across our operations, we’re developing and deploying technologies that support everything from synthetic data generation and video analytics to real-time decision-making on embedded systems.

By combining internal capabilities with strategic partnerships, Magna is building the infrastructure to support the growing role of operational AI.
