Content Card Widget
Overview
Content Cards are a custom Sitefinity content type designed to power card-based layouts across the site. These cards are rendered by custom layouts and can be displayed individually or in groups, depending on the layout configuration.
This section documents the fields available in the Content Card editor and how they influence presentation and behaviour.
Core Content Fields
Title:
Primary heading for the card. This maps directly to the card title across all Card layouts.
Summary:
Short descriptive text used as the card body copy. Text length directly impacts card height and should be considered when designing multi-card layouts.
Video:
A link to a MediaValet resource.
Depending on the selected Card template, this may:
- Render as an autoplaying video within the card, or
- Link to a video (external or popup/modal experience)
Link:
The primary destination associated with the card. This is typically used for the CTA or to make the entire card clickable, depending on the layout.
Card Thumbnail:
The primary image asset for the card. Aspect ratio and cropping are controlled by the selected template. This image is used consistently across all Content Card–driven layouts.
Layout & Display Notes
- Content cards are data-driven and reusable across multiple layouts.
- A single layout may display:
- One content card (featured or hero-style layouts)
- Multiple content cards (grids, carousels, or filtered sets)
- Visual differences are driven by layout templates, not by differences in available fields.
Design Considerations
Content cards intentionally support:
- One primary image
- One primary action
- A constrained text hierarchy
If a design requires multiple CTAs, rich metadata, or complex interaction patterns, a different content type or component should be considered.
