News Release - Magna Supplies Innovative Powertrain Technologies for the New Alfa Romeo Giulia

SAILAUF, Germany, September 28, 2016 – Magna International Inc. has equipped the new Alfa Romeo Giulia with innovative and smarter technologies. The all-wheel drive sports sedan, which is expected to hit the market this fall, is powered by Magna’s transfer case and front axle drive. Magna is the world’s leading provider of all-wheel and four-wheel drive systems. The transfer case distributes the applied torque between rear and front axle, which ensures ideal transfer of the engine power onto the road for agile and dynamic driving, but as well for better grip, even on wet or slippery roads.

“As world leader in all-wheel and four-wheel drive systems, we strive to deliver innovative technologies that make the driving experience fun while significantly improving vehicle dynamics and without compromising safety,” explains Jake Hirsch, President of Magna Powertrain. “Being a part of the Alfa Romeo Giulia, an iconic sports sedan, is something our entire team is very proud of.” Beside the all-wheel drive, Magna developed a common rear wheel drive for the new Sedan paying a special tribute to the highly successful Giulias of the 60’s and 70’s.

Magna also supplied various other components including side door latches, best in class in terms of noise emission and interior and exterior mirrors. Depending on the equipment package, the mirrors can be heated, automatically dimmed or come fitted with an indicator control.
